Got an email from Amazon.com, that there will be a "Limited Extended Version" of Lord of the Rings on Blu Ray.As I already own the DVD extended version and the quality is good enough for me and there are no additional perks with this new release, I am not sure, if I am going to buy it.
Saldly, there is no release date...
Despite this being an Amazon pre-order it does not unfortunately constitute as an "official" announcement. So until we get a press release through official Warner Brothers channels, then don't hold your breath.
ReplyDeleteThe previous Blu-ray release of the theatrical version were very poor transfers with indifferent picture quality. Lets us hope that this version has more attention lavished on it.
May be Peter Jackson will do a George Lucas and replace some of the FX shots or restore some further scenes. But agin, this has not been in any way endorsed or confirmed by the powers that be.
At present I will stick to my 1080P extended editions that were sourced for cable release and won't consider shelling out a red cent until I have proof that the new copies are a significant improvement or sport some new "must have" material.
